I. CALL TO ORDER at 10:35 by Murray
II. APPROVAL OF JUNE 26, 2024 SPECIALMEETING MINUTES—Motion made by Suzi to approve minutes, seconded by Bill, unanimously approved.
III. FINANCIAL REPORT, TREASURER BILL CARMICHAEL
Revenues, Expenditures--$21,991.38 in bank account
Membership—175
Interest Bearing Account—Allied Bank & Live Oak Bank are offering $15,000 in IBA, close to 5%. Discussion ensued. Motion to move $15,000 to an interest-bearing account was made by Suzi, seconded by Mary, unanimously approved.
IV. OCTOBER SENIOR TOURNAMENT, Sat, Oct 12 & Sun, Oct 13
Sponsors—Teresa Peeples has several sponsors already
Entries—Only about 12 entries so far, entries are slow right now. Need to put on FB & Teresa will share flyer, etc., at North Glynn. Bill is concerned about the lack of entries.
Beneficiaries—Theresa presented list, discussion ensued, Motion made by Bill—Our share of the surplus from the October Senior Tournament will go the local Parkinson’s group. Vote 6-yay, 1-nay, motion approved. (Mike McKinney is the contact of the local Parkinson’s nonprofit group, just got their 501c3, hopefully setting up website currently, there are adaptive Parkinson’s Pickleball programs at the Y and The Club).
Volunteers—Teresa Peeples asked what we need for volunteers, to let her and Joe know. We’ll figure out volunteers and get back to them.
Friday Night Picnic, Saturday lunch, Sunday lunch—Harris Teeter BBQ ribs with sides, Social Committee will check on renting pavilion Friday night 5-8pm. Bill will look into Chick-Fil-A lunch on Saturday, and then probably hotdogs on Sunday. Social Comm will get tablecloths, activities to do Friday night (corn hole, etc.), Suzi will work on getting a chairperson to direct the committee (maybe LauraLynn).

Competition Committee—no news except what has been reported re upcoming tournament.
Social Committee (Discussion of Responsibilities, Leadership)—see IV. e.
Social Media/Publicity Committee—sent out July newsletter, looked great and everyone enjoyed the Person on the Courts interviews.
VII. OTHER MATTERS—
Pickleball in the Schools—working on getting pickleball in grades 4 & 5 throughout Glynn County, USPA grant—trying to get it.
Annual Meeting—Tuesday, December 3 in room 108, 5:30-7:30 (get in an hour early at 4:30 to set up).
County Discussions—no further discussion with John Gentry. Possibly reach out to commissioners if staff doesn’t respond.
